Need for Speed: Most Wanted U (Wii U): COMPLETED!

I am Most Wanted! As the saucy minx on the game purred to tell me. I beat the Konigseggsegssgg and took it down to claim it as my own, and that was it – fourteen hours of credits, followed by being dumped back in the game to play some more, only in an invisible car. And play some more I did. Firstly, to find all of the remaining jack spots (I had about 15 remaining – only one was difficult …

Need for Speed: Most Wanted (Demo) (360)

Oh, this isn’t like Burnout at all, is it? It looks exactly the same, only with licenced cars. Played a race, which was pretty dull (no actual Burnouting or Takedowns), and then played a mode where you have to escape from the police, smash through roadblocks and stuff. It was pretty good fun, but the roadblocks seem to be positioned randomly and you appear to have to find them, rather than them just be where you’re driving to anyway. Overall, …

Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious (360): COMPLETED!

Just trips off the tongue, that title, doesn’t it? It does exactly what it says on the tin, though – a Fast & Furious (tenuously) themed Forza Horizon game. Oh, and it’s free. Yes, actually free. Presumably to tie in with the next The Fast and the Furious film, but aside from “the man in your ear” being Taj from the films, and a short montage of clips from the series, there’s not a lot of The Fast and the Furious …

Invade-o-Trons from Planet Q Paul E. Collins Starglider’s Review: Claims to be the worst Space Invaders clone ever made, and I would be quite ready to agree. it even tells you that there is an error that occurs quite often.BUT… it does play, and error aside, it is possible to play. Still, it is an awful game! 6/10 Dunny’s Review: This is a BASIC port of the classic 70’s smash, “Space Invaders”. And what a mind-numbingly great port it is too. …

Weapon Shop de Omasse (3DS): COMPLETED!

And that’s it! By the end it got pretty easy, as I realised that you only really need to make weapons for the main characters and fob off the NPCs with whatever you have in stock that most closely fits their request. The final hour or two was mainly waiting. Each main customer came in one at a time, wanted “the ultimate weapon” to defeat the Evil Lord, and then came back a little later after I’d forged it. For …

Things I’ve been playing recently

Roundup time! Hyrule Warriors (Wii U) With over 80 hours racked up now, this became my most played Wii U title some time ago. No matter how repetitive it seems to be, even playing exactly the same mission over and over with the same character, it never gets boring. I have now at least started the Master Quest from the first set of DLC, albeit to just play about four missions to see what they were like. Since then, there’s …

Things I’ve been playing recently

Roundup time! Need For Speed: Most Wanted U (Wii U) At less than £15, I couldn’t resist this. The best version of essentially the sequel to one of the best driving games ever (Burnout Paradise)? Sold! And, I’ve not been disappointed. Sure, it’s more realistic with the real cars and less arcadey handling, and yeah, the billboards and barriers you have to smash through aren’t all bright red and yellow, and OK, so there are police cars out to spoil …

Pound-a-Mile Update

So, it’s time for an update, I think. How do you think things have gone? Well, a lot of things have happened. Most importantly, I bought a new bike. Oh yes. Even though my Apollo Highway hybrid was still under a year old, I was fed up with the shocking build quality and after a snapped chain, snapped axle, bent wheel, twisted cogs, and it never, ever, changing gears smoothly enough regardless of how much they were adjusted, cleaned, and …

Synology DS211j Review

Being the paranoid about backups person that I am, I’ve been looking for ages for a way of backing up my Mac to a device in my loft. For a while now I’ve been weighing up the various pros and cons of assorted NAS devices, and a month or so ago finally settled on the Synology DS211j. It came top, or near-top, in virtually every NAS review roundup I could find (at least all those in the £200-ish price range …

New camera shinyness

After what must be around 6 years of loyal service, the time has come to finally replace my ageing (and broken once and repaired) Canon IXUS II digital camera. Well, I say replace – it isn’t going anywhere. I just wanted a new one. Yes, even having just bought a new camcorder. There was nothing especially wrong with the IXUS. It takes good quality pictures, is pretty quick, and has plenty of options and functions I rarely even needed. It …

Virgin on the ridiculous

With apologies for the rather obvious headline. Since Wednesday, my internet connection (4Mb cable, ex-NTL now Virgin Media) had been playing up.¬¨‚Ć I’d not really had time to look into the fault, but on Friday night with the arrival of some new networking kit (ordered before I started getting problems, ironically) I decided to get to the bottom of it. After some testing with various speedtest sites, it became clear that the problem was my upload speed.¬¨‚Ć On a Virgin …
